How Can I Keep from Singing (Randall Stroope)

Originally this tune was composed as a hymn by Robert Lowry (1826 – 1899). This stunning arrangement is composed by Randall Stroope. Stroope is currently an Associate Professor of Conducting and Director of Choral and Vocal Studies at Oklahoma State University. Anna Bartlett Warner (1820 - 1915) wrote additional verses to compliment Lowry’s beautiful text. This piece touches us all throughout the work. It is rich and luscious, joyous, and also quietly reflective. The end of the piece reminds us through the repetition of the text, “singing, singing, singing” that we must not stop singing no matter what obstacles the world creates around us.
